As this unprecedented global crisis continues to unfold in the coming weeks and months, it is vitally important to us that our members (and stakeholders) are safe, and we ensure we do not put anyone at risk. We have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the CAPM&R 68th Annual Scientific Meeting in Charlottetown, PE, May 28-30.
While this is certainly disappointing, we are pleased to confirm that the Executive and Scientific Committee are working on a virtual alternative for our AGMs (CPRDF & CAPMR) & the scientific research component. We will provide more details about sponsor participation options for this virtual format in the coming weeks. Delegates and Sponsors who have registered their participation will be reimbursed in full unless you wish to donate registration fees or sponsorships to the CPRDF and virtual AGM/Education. If you wish to make the donations to the foundation, please let us know by March 25 otherwise, you will receive a full refund.
We will continue to review all contest submissions for the research and essay awards. These will be a big part of the virtual AGM. All $100 abstract bonds will be refunded.
In more positive news…. the CAPM&R proudly announces that Dr. Andrei Krassioukov has received the prestigious 2020 Meridith Marks Award for Excellence in Education. This award was developed by the Canadian Physiatrists Research and Development Foundation (CPRDF) and Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (CAPM&R) to recognize excellence in education among physiatrists in both the local and national level.
The Award is named in honour of Dr. Meridith Marks to acknowledge her significant contributions to medical education in Canada.
Join us in congratulating Dr. Krassioukov for this achievement! (Prior winners)
And….We will be back in Charlottetown so… save this important date: June 1 – June 4, 2022! Yes, we already rebooked. The Local Organizing Committee has done an amazing job with planning the 2020 conference that we really need to see it to fruition.
Delta Hotels by Marriott Prince Edward and Prince Edward Island Convention Centre have moved our entire booking ahead to 2022. We will not lose our deposit and we will not be liable for the 2020 room block. Please tweet @DeltaPEI, post on Facebook or LinkedIn your support and appreciation to the owners of these establishments. Their understanding has mitigated any financial losses.
We thank you for your ongoing support of the CAPM&R. These last few weeks have reinforced how much better things are when we pull together and lean on each other for support and guidance.
On behalf of the entire PMR Community, please continue to be safe and healthy as we maneuver these truly unprecedented times.
